No, Iowa, since the topic is Grassley. I am an ISU alum, and these oddly pronounced towns are closer to Ames than Des Moines, but not by much.
@DukeTrout oddly enough, central Iowa does have some geographic relief (eastern Iowa even more so). West Des Moines, not so much, city center? Depending on how close you are to the rivers, yes. Ames even has a fair bit of elevation difference between north and south sides of town - as was acutely brought to our attention in the floods of '93.
As for Sterling Heights, the name is very aspirational, but it’s possible there’s a vantage point that allows you to see the Ren Cen. There’s also a stretch of M-14 eastbound just past Sheldon Rd. where you can see downtown Detroit (if you’re a passenger, don’t actively try to look if you’re a driver not accustomed to this speedway - no BS, do NOT get in the ultra fast lane if you are not willing to drive at least 85 MPH).
