As long as he keeps signing their tax cuts, they donā€™t give a single shit.

In ongoing ā€œpeople who voted for the Democrat must be prevented from votingā€ newsā€¦

The billā€™s sponsor, state Sen. Bryan Hughes, a Republican from rural east Texas, says the point of the bill is not to crack down on people who ā€œinadvertently check a wrong box.ā€ He says the point is to make sure local prosecutors ā€œare prioritizing these crimes.ā€

ā€œThis bill is aimed at people who are intentionally cheating,ā€ Hughes says. ā€œThis is not to catch people who make an honest mistake.ā€

And yet, thatā€™s never how these things get implemented.

A possible prelude to trumpā€™s war on Social Security:

"The Social Security retirement program will be unable to pay full benefits by 2035, according to a new report issued Monday by the Trump administration. "

ā€œWithout reforms, the report says, payments to beneficiaries would have to be cut by 25 percent starting in 2035 to keep the program solvent.ā€ -The Hill

I donā€™t put any weight what so ever in a trump administration report but, it will be used by republicans to wage war on SS in the coming monthsā€¦

Imagine what previous data your phone would be working off that you type ā€œ138ā€ into it and it autosuggests ā€œmillionā€.

People are questioning the explantion the government has given - that it was in retaliation for the Australia shootings, as well as Islamic State involvement - they basically ā€œclaimā€ anything done by Islamists, where they had anything to do with it or not.

Good to keep in mind. Terrorist groups get donations and recruits by carrying out successful attacks. If a group can claim these attacks itā€™s a ā€œwinā€ for them.

Are you talking about trump?

The only difference between ISIS and far-right terrorism is a disagreement on which religion is correct. Theyā€™re both ultra-conservative with a belief that the world was better in the past, when people didnā€™t disagree with them and did what they are told.

Anyone hoping that Roberts would ā€œmoderateā€ himself after Breyerā€™s retirement because heā€™s so damn dedicated to maintaining the increasingly-convenient fiction that the court is an impartial, apolitical arm of government is no doubt aghast that the man who helped strike down the core of the Voting Rights Act is now super into ensuring its effectiveness by accepting a laughably nonsensical argument from the Trump administration for why we need a citizenship question on the 2020 census.

Meanwhile, Kavanaugh is out there with the ā€œwell itā€™s not technically illegal to add the question, so thatā€™s fine by meā€ take that Iā€™m sure he was picked for, and Iā€™m just so. god. damned. tired.

This brings up the question: what can Congress do?

To be a fly on the wall where Trump asks his lawyers just how much he can break the law and get away with it.

I dunno the idea of most of Trumps staff locked up for contempt (provided that can be done for congressional subpoena) is something I find amusing.

Well thereā€™s the Congress jail, but couldnā€™t Trump just pardon them? I mean the only remedies Congress has here seem pretty damn weak and Congress is basically an extrajudicial authority.

Iā€™m not sure if he can pardon contempt of congress. But he certainly can pardon people who shoot members of congress! (But letā€™s not give him any ideas)
