At some point, if heā€™s able to, heā€™ll drop the weasel-qualifiers like [I think] [in some cases].

The 66 percent support for admitting the island as the 51st state is consistent with polling dating back to the early 1960s. Support is highest among Democrats, younger voters, and non-white voters. But while nearly half of Republicans also back the proposal, the partyā€™s leaders do not.

Itā€™s almost as if the GOP donā€™t want 2 new liberal senators on the hill

I was talking with a friend about this recently, and she said that if Puerto Rico became a state, Guam would also have to become a state. One new red state to go along with a new blue state. Alaska and Hawaii, Guam and Puerto Rico. I hope this isnā€™t true. Even if this kind of ā€œbalanceā€ made sense, which it doesnā€™t to me, how popular is the idea of statehood for Guam?

With the case closed, a federal judge in New York ordered the court documents unsealed as they were ā€œa matter of national importanceā€ and added that ā€œit is time that every American has an opportunity to scrutinize the materials."

Nah. The question of statehood rests on Puerto Rico. A vote could pass there and Guam could still be fine as a territory.

I do not know if Guam has the same deal, where they vote and can just become a state.

Hmm. The America I was raised to believe in was a welcoming place, and also allowed voters to elect representatives who had their best interests at heart and who cared about this country. These baptists clearly donā€™t love this America. Maybe they should leave it.

Race Hate Baptist is a bit too on the nose.

Pass.

So, churches that once had pithy quotes outside to try and inspire a laugh and or entice folks to enter now have redneck bumper sticker slogans on display.

Yay Jesus.

I mean, those still exist. Not all are Xtians. Some are still Christians.

Iā€™m not sure why southern Baptists would think that improving healthcare, raising the minimum wage, creating jobs, and funding education equates to hating Americaā€¦ oh! Right! Racism!!

There is a methodist church I know that always has a nice board. It generally says something about how all people are welcome. Once they apologized for the anti-LGGQT+ decision the methodist organization had madeā€¦ Itā€™s a welcome change from some churches like this that peddle hate and a great reminder that some christians work hard on being welcoming and open.

Figures that the church is in Appomattox, Va. The epicenter of Southern surrender and failure. No doubt hard core trump country.

ā€œLove it or leave itā€ well, they tried to leave it once already.

White southerners are essentially the only group who have ever attempted to self-deport en masse.

Itā€™s also worth remembering that churches, mosques, temples and other places of worship often serve as havens and community centers for immigrants and other marginalized communities. Faith isnā€™t inherently bigoted, merely some of the faithful.
