Did they find drugs or are the assuming the tunnel is for drugs? Just as likely being used to smuggle humans, but as @markfrauenfelder notes, a certain sub-set of attorneys have but one mission - self-preservation.

Somebody check the whereabouts of Colin Furze.

Still better than the boring tunnel in Vegas with a slow Tesla.

I wonder how many tunnels there actually are and if any tunnel diggers have ever like bumped into other tunnel diggers while tunnel digging.

boring is how tunnels are made.

Not likely at all. A functioning tunnel for drugs cost millions to create and is worth hundreds of millions of dollars (or more) when it is fully operational. You are not going to risk revealing the whereabouts of that tunnel by smuggling migrants, who pay at most several thousand each. In fact, El Chapo would often execute the low-level workers who dug his tunnels for just that reason.

So this discovery will have a 0.000001% impact on cocaine imports into the US. 1750 lbs of coke isn’t even a rounding error on the amount of drugs flowing into the country.

See, this is why just a wall above ground isn’t enough, the wall foundations must extend to the core of the earth and up into the stratosphere.

Any cost is justified for um… for… What is this wall for again?

Just for Mr. Grossman’s edification, Otay Mesa is still within Tijuana. It’s actually north by north-WEST of where I live.

Now if they could just do something about all those guns going south down “The Iron River.”

Conservatives on guns: “Prohibition doesn’t work!”

Conservatives on everything else: “Ban it!”

According to some estimates, hundreds. Much like drug seizures, tunnel seizures are a tiny fraction of the total. It’s all theatre for the cameras so that people in red states can pretend the drug war is doing anything besides making everything worse.

Keep the drug tunnels intact for the impending abortion railroad to Mexico. Just say’n.

Probably be more money in that than some recreational drugs.

And surely the fact that each subsequent tunnel law enforcement finds is more sophisticated and well-funded than the last must mean that they’re winning that war on drugs, right?

Boring is also an adjective that can be used to describe an underwhelming tunnel funded by a megalomaniac…
