I thought we were going to game out the plot of Trumpface right here…
I’d go with Eric being the most slasher-y, although I’d expect Ivanka to bring a gun to the ostensible knife-fight. Don Jr. would likely get drunk and lost on the way to the event, and he’d wind up running “Johhny’s Auto-Emporium You-Pick Again Also” until 2042 when he’s discovered as the Last Remaining Trump holding the bag for the $12 Billion in trumpCorp losses due to theft, mismanagement, and small hands. At which point he’d begin taking classes in Enron University’s “Hey Rube” class (no syllabus, no class description) with the expectation of Being Somebody.
It’ll be great.
Again.
Also.
The way government, business, and the media are intertwined . . . I don’t have a lot of faith that things will ever get better in my lifetime. If Trump screws up so badly he is impeached, or is dumped in one term, it won’t change the fact that so few Americans vote or think much about the issues, it won’t change the GOP having a powerful propaganda wing in Fox News, it won’t change so much of America being split up in warring red/blue factions that can’t agree on what constitutes reality.
When I look at what this country needs to actually make the government work properly for all citizens it seems like such an impossibly steep hill to climb from this vantage point.
This is why I recommend those who are currently employed and have disposable incomes pay off all their debts as fast as they can and get ready for hard times ahead.
I think it’s important to remember how things were at the end of the GW Bush presidency, starting an unjust war, torture, GITMO and so on. The Noble prize was awarded to Obama right away during his presidency to encourage him not to follow the same path as W.
It was strategically awarded and I don’t see anything wrong with doing that. In hindsight, despite extrajudicial assassinations with drones, Obama didn’t start a large-scale invasion like W. did.
Of course, the economy working the way it does, this makes it harder for poorer people to earn a living since a lot of them work in service industries.
But it is good advice if you can follow it. Communism failed because under Brezhnev the economy stagnated, it became impossible for the government to do anything, and everybody who could was accumulating assets and not producing anything of value. (The saying was “we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us”.) Capitalism seems to be heading down the same hole at the moment; governments can only tinker a little with taxes, usually in the form of making the rich richer, and more and more money is disappearing into offshore holes, resulting in asset bubbles. Most technology products are pretty much good enough. At some point an economy based on social media workers visiting coffee shops is going to hit the buffers.
President Obama didn’t deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, but there’s at least one person who deserved the Nobel Peace Prize even less than he did – Mother Teresa.
A lot more than one. Kissinger, for starters…
