The Smithsonian Magazine article, which you quoted, says that the painting is probably by a “follower” of Lippi.

I came here all ready to correct the record since the artist the painter followed must be Fillipo Lippi, not Fillipino Lippi.
Turns out Filippino Lippi was Fillipo Lippi’s (illegitimate) son. Shows you what I know .
