Yeah, but to be fair, in reality, many people were forced to drink the poisoned drink, at gun point. Some were gunned down, and some did escape. Some drank it willingly, because they thought the US government was about to come break up their new utopia and this was the only way out.
The reality is that people WANT to be able to be racist with no repercussions, because they’ve been told for all their lives that their whiteness makes them special. Otherwise, they are nothing. None of this goes away until we fully dismantle our racist systems.

Very true.
The immediate association with cult-like, mindless, mob mentality is the salt in the wound that still is the Jonestown tragedy; not everyone who died was willing and many were victims. You’re right to acknowledge that.
But those who were willing and those who actively helped were definitely brain-washed long before the flavoraid was served up.
I want to stop the decent into evil, before it gets to that point…
