From McPhersonâs Battle Cry of Freedom:
Yeah, itâs exactly what I told you happened in the DNC. I find it interesting that itâs framed as âClintonâs secret takeoverâ in the article though.
Got a link? I remember something along those lines, but itâd be interesting to see it again.
How would you describe it?
Iâm accustomed to seeing politicians throw their underlings in front of the bus; itâs an interesting contrast to see it happen to the overlings. The fact that it happened suggests that there may be some major shifts of power happening within the party.
It was on another site, but the DNC changed from a 50 state strategy to Obamaâs push for privatization and federal-focused elections by 2010. The hardcore Clinton faction was behind the 50-state push and the change in direction came after Obama used the consultants to win in 2008 over Clinton and in a massive landslide. So the DNC took on much more expensive elections and lost just about every election, choosing to lean more and more into the consultants for each loss. So when Clintonâs presidential run comes up, she injected a ton of money into the DNC to prop it up from near financial ruin while she ran. And, like I said, she had the influence to change the direction of the ship easily but I think she let it all happen because she wanted the party to stay focused on presidential runs until she was in office - and thatâs the key point, she could have fixed the problems in the party and probably stopped the state and local bleeding in 2012 or 2014 and chose the path that got her the best presidential run.
Obviously, that didnât pan out and while she hasnât broken ties with the DNC the party leadership has been swapped with Perez - an Obama guy. Now that Perez is elbowing out the grassroots efforts again, they can blame Clinton with impunity and continue doing what they have been doing for a decade now. Not that Clinton is blameless, just that the root of the issue is with the DNCâs shift from state and local organizations to expensive consulting which was a change explicitly made to change the strategy during Howard Dean and Tim Kaineâs tenure.
Obviously none of us know for sure, but given how the party has been working and the very clear and public change in direction when Obama topped Clinton, in my opinion it looks like the Obama era DNC staff is dumping on Clinton because itâs easy to do when she lost (just like the Obama faction grew with Kerryâs loss).
Brazileâs comments suggest that it could have been more than that; not neglect, but a deliberate effort to bleed the party dry so as to force reliance on Clinton money.
Thatâs definitely an unproven hypothesis, but it would fit with DWSâs management of the party finances.
All Ye Homeowners: Home Mortgage Interest Deduction at Risk
"Under the Republican plan, existing homeowners can keep the deduction, but future purchases will be capped at $500,000.
The National Association of Realtors came out swinging against the bill, suggesting a huge fight awaits over how real estate is treated.
âEliminating or nullifying the tax incentives for homeownership puts home values and middle-class homeowners at risk, and from a cursory examination this legislation appears to do just that,â said William E. Brown, president of the National Association of Realtors. âWe will have additional details upon a more thorough reading of the bill.â -NYT
This is EVERY FUCKING HOUSE IN A 50 MILE RADIUS HERE.
She was also the vice chair for longer than DWS was chair (notice how she tries to minimize that saying she only knew the operation costs from her brief time as interim chair). Donna Brazile herself took millions of dollars transferred from the Clinton campaign that was intended to go to Michigan and instead used it for advertising in Chicago and New Orleans. Sheâs highlighted as one of the people that explicitly made moves to get a higher popular vote total because the electoral college was a sure bet.
Among the other workarounds claimed was one from interim DNC chair Donna Brazile, who was persuading the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to hold the $5 million transferred to them from the Clinton campaign and to wait to spend it buying airtime for minority voter turnout in the final week they otherwise wouldnât have been able to fund.
But there also were millions approved for transfer from Clintonâs campaign for use by the DNC â which, under a plan devised by Brazile to drum up urban turnout out of fear that Trump would win the popular vote while losing the electoral vote, got dumped into Chicago and New Orleans, far from anywhere that would have made a difference in the election.
Not to mention that she is absolutely cut-throat - in 2008 she was the one to purge states of delegates when they broke the rules and moved primary dates only to herself in 2016 suck up to the Clinton campaign by breaking the rules herself. Of the people to trust in this situation sheâs extremely low on that list.
Now sheâs on a pre-book publish tour (because of course she happens to be releasing a book) to drum up her name tossing shade around on everyone but herself in the 2016 cycle.

Oh good, it wasnât just me thinking that.
McPherson is worth the read; he is extremely relevant to the modern situation.
Iâve been pushing that book since Trump began to rise:
Gitmo judge sends Marine general lawyer to 21 days confinement for disobeying orders
Air Force Col. Vance Spath also declared ânull and voidâ a decision by Marine Brig. Gen. John Baker, 50, to release three civilian defense attorneys from the capital terror case. The lawyers resigned last month over a covert breach of attorney-client privilege involving something so secretive at the terror prison that the public cannot know.
Wednesday evening, with Baker confined to his quarters in a trailer park behind the courthouse, Judge Spath issued another order: Directing the three lawyers â Rick Kammen, Rosa Eliades and Mary Spears â to litigate Friday in the death-penalty case against Abd al Rahim al Nashiri remotely from the Washington D.C., area by video feed to GuantĂĄnamo.
