I havenāt visited this thread for more than 1000 posts. I wonāt catch up on them. But when the BBC, this morning, had an audio snippet of Trump doubling down on arming teachers, I was really at a loss. I donāt know where to turn.
Of course, this is FUD. The administration uses this to distract. But it is also real. There are people arguing in earnest about this.
I just wish this would end. I hope the next generation will fix this. If they donāt, not only the US are doomed.
Just a reminder: 75 years ago, on Feb.22, 1943, Christoph Probst, Hans Scholl and Sophie Scholl were executed. Months later, Kurt Huber, Willi Graf and Alexander Schmorell were also executed. Others were jailed.
Sophie, the youngest, was 21.
And still, some people on todayās ādiscourseā claim people canāt organise resistance to an existential threat in their life, a threat to society, because they are too young.
Also new to this indictment: A long list of items for which Mueller is demanding forfeiture. This includes at least four houses or apartments, bank accounts, and even a life insurance policy.
No, really? Are the older folks starting to catch on that heās a sociopath? We knew that back in 2016. Hell, many people my age who arenāt liberal were willing to hold their nose to vote for Hillary because of that fact alone.
Ivy league universities to high school students who worry about suspensions, expulsions and other punishments by school admins for protesting gun violence being counted against their admissionsā¦
Also from Quartz today, a profile of the advertising firm the NRA has been working with for 30 years
āThe FBI had ample reason to believe that Carter Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power based on his history, including the fact that he had previously been a target of Russian recruitment, his travel to Russia and other information,ā Schiff said in a statement.
I may have mentioned this before but ā my household constantly gets membership cards, magazines, and donation request letters from the NRA, because my housemateās father was a paid member for 30+ years. Heās been dead for 15 years. Weāve repeatedly sent the NRA letters, emails, and called them to ask if theyād please stop sending this stuff, reminding them that the member theyāre trying to reach is long dead. They simply donāt care. I suspect many hundreds of thousands of their other āmembersā are also corpses.
To be properly Scientology Creepy, they have to track you through several moves, maybe a name change, and send you a hand-written note with details from their files:
āThirty-five years ago you bought S&W .38 at Bobās Guns&Range. Howās that working out for you?ā
āTeam Cruz chose uCampaign because it would help them put existing data to use and generate new data,ā Peters said on Medium. āAs a phone app it has authorized access to a supporterās phone address book contacts. That allows it to match those contacts to Cruzās voter universes and prompt existing supporters to reach out personally to identified potential supporters.ā
The app also gave Cruz supporters a private place to bond.
āUnlike the awkward conversations with uncles and cousins on a Facebook newsfeed, or the perpetual drama of political Twitter, these apps offer a safe space for like-minded supporters of Ted Cruz to interact via the in-app newsfeed,ā Peters explained.
O the irony.
Also, it would be interesting if coders took a look at the app and see if there is any funny business with the API that could get it yanked from stores and twitter access.
