Even the ‘hard’ sciences are considered ‘soft’ if women go into them:

So, SSDD…

To make matters worse, when women increasingly enter a field, the average pay in that field tends to decline, relative to other fields. Levanon, England, and Allison (2009) found that when more women entered an industry, the relative pay of that industry 10 years later was lower. Specifically, they found evidence of devaluation—meaning the proportion of women in an occupation impacts the pay for that industry because work done by women is devalued.

I really hope the efforts towards salary transparency regulations and pay equity gain traction and spread across the country. Otherwise, this trend will continue for another 20+ years.

This is often put forth as an explanation for how pediatricians became the lowest paid specialty in medicine, and if you compare the gender makeup vs avg reimbursement, it rings true.

CPCs—largely non-medical, faith-based facilities whose central mission is to dissuade pregnant people from obtaining abortions.
As Texas abortion clinics have dwindled over the years due to increasingly restrictive state laws—from around 40 before 2013 to 20 today—CPCs have proliferated. There are now nearly 200 of them in Texas—the most in any state—including about 60 that receive taxpayer funds and are not regulated by the state health commission. In the United States overall, CPCs outnumber abortion clinics three to one.

Let’s mess with Texas. It’s past time

Now I’m trying to remember what movie or TV show had a character who used “past” instead of “passed” (as in “past (sic) away”) on his father’s tombstone because it was less expensive…?

You’re welcome. I wish there was a search engine just for comedy. I’ve watched so many performances, but trying to find something based on a punchline or theme can be really frustrating!
