See? Elon did his wife a favor by begetting those 5 sons!!!
(Huge fucking /s)
Someone made this point in a link in the article, but of course we all chip in for the costs of children via taxes that go to schools and childcare and Medicare/Medicaid (in the US). The idea here is so poorly thought out.
And even though I don’t have children and won’t ever, I’d happily pay higher taxes, too, if it meant my neighbors and others had access to healthcare, parental leave, better education, etc.
But penalizing me for not having kids is fucked up and mean, and especially cruel for those who really want to have children but can’t.
Honestly, I think the expression “never ascribe to malice what can be adequately explained by ignorance” is the right one here: people see something like this in their social media feed and simply forward or copy/paste the same image to send to others.
Yes, but he’s complaining about folks who deliberately clip the edges of one to remove the attribution of the creator, or (what I’ve seen) to purposefully cover the creator’s watermark with their own logo.
@mr_raccoon just posted in the Mass Shooting thread:
And my response:

But with regard to your post above, the story definitely makes the husband/father out to be a well-respected local man of business, and suggests there’s something about the family dynamic that is toxic.
Hmmm, wonder who could be the destabilizing member of the family? The biggest strongest one, that the police had to check up on regularly? The violent one? Nope, must be the mom. The guys would have been pillars of the community without her.
D’oh! I knew it was from somewhere else, and I could not remember where! Thanks @mr_raccoon!
And that fact alone is fine to discuss, but the way it’s presented, is pretty misogynistic. Just pretty much echoing Carlson’s talking abouts about “nagging women” but with prettier words.
