There are 125 seats in the Kansas State House. The odds of any one representative causing great harm on his own or being the tie breaking vote on important legislation are relatively small. Not necessarily so on a school board.
But I agree he’s obviously the wrong candidate here, just for reasons other than his age.
Agreed. Ideally it should be more about maturity than age, and while years can confer experience and wisdom, it’s not guaranteed.
But that one… I’m tired of being told that we must embrace people as our political allies based on the claim of shared values, when their actions prove otherwise. And some events should disqualify elected offices, unless and until such people can prove they’ve learned to be better, and do better.
It matters little if one can talk the talk, if they can’t walk the walk.
His background, achievements, experiences and challenges can in no way compare to Hamilton. Who wasn’t in a legislative position till 1782. After again vastly more experience.
But I’ll agree that Burr is a good comparison when it comes to character.
Except the Shakers were started by women and were deeply egalitarian in a society that was even more profoundly misogynistic than the deeply misogynistic one we live in, but sure… precisely the same… /s
The mental gymnastics involved in the beliefs shared by members of these groups always make me do a double-take:
Women are essentially portrayed as parasites riding on the coattails of men
If I met someone in this movement I’d have to ask, “So, how many years did your mother support your ability to exist until you were able to care for yourself? You did pay her back, right? If not, that means you’re the parasite.”
Learning about more groups full of sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigots makes me want to rewatch 9 to 5 and consider the progress we’ve made since 1980.
