And now this story has got it’s own thread, with some one screaming about how she started the fight… ignoring that if she was liable for the fight, that would come out in a case on the shooter!
Unfortunately, I think we have the grand jury to blame for this. The information presented to them made them decide to not accept charges against the shooter (so that case couldn’t go forward to trial) and yet based on incidental information that was presented decided to move forward with charges against the gunshot victim instead. I have no idea what percentage of culpability can be assigned to the detectives and/or district attorney – how they presented the information certainly would have been a major factor – but ultimately it was the grand jury that said “nope” to the shooter and “let’s get her” to the victim.
I have to think the DA has a significant culpability in this. The old saw about “A decent DA could get an indictment on a ham sandwich” comes to mind. In this case, a black person fired a weapon resulting in a death, and the DA could not get an indictment? In Alabama?? Color me doubtful. And it just so happens that there was evidence presented that resulted in the indictment of the victim? I smell a DA with political ambitions wanting to prove their bona fides to the hard right!

I’m still waiting for ANY news article about how the gunshot victim is doing. 5 shots into the stomach and not dying on the scene is already beating the odds. And thinking that if you DO live, you’re going to prison for the crime of being shot, well, that can’t be good for her psychological health.

If he’s brought to trial, that will be a minor miracle. If he’s convicted? Check the weather report for Hades, and grab some ice skates.
He says that like it’s a bad thing, although the implication that women need a license to not reproduce? WTF kind of nonsense is this? No clue about his positions, honestly I thought he was dead, but still…
