Activists cover Harrods with orange paint and lie in street to block traffic

Yes, but why was Vincent Van Gogh protesting Campbell’s Soup again?

They used Heinz. Which, frankly, is the biggest facepalm of them all regarding the VvG stunt for me.
To paraphrase I a fellow commenter from the soup thread: a worthy cause needs better activists than that.

I agree with Beau that the van Gogh stunt and the other two were done for publicity (mainly for the benefit of the performance artists themselves within the movement). I disagree with him that they will be remembered by the wider public or TPTB 6 months from now.

We here might reference them as the good old days when the JSO edgelord contingent starts drinking orange food colouring and flinging their high-viz poop on artworks and stores with vague connections to the fossil fuel industry (“don’t you mundanes understand how serious they are about global warming?!”) but otherwise they will be forgotten.

“Any ideas for our next direct action?” “How about Hans and me do a copy of the completely ineffectual protest that gave those two London activists their 15-minutes of fame? That’ll really stick it to The Man!”

Are you mixing up the famous modernist with the impressionist? Because this was trying to stick it to the Mon. :drum:

Pieing a waxwork is better clowning. Of course it is a waxwork of someone who has consistently supported environmental movements.
