I think there is a worthwhile talking point here, about the ethics of automated weapons platforms.
But let me just say, as a career techie, I’m deeply skeptical that any Skynet like system could run for more than a week without a crippling outage, without constant human intervention. Systems that run for long periods of time without hiccups are small in scope and architecture, kept as simple as possible.
And a readily accessible Big Red Switch to remove all power sources. Not a dry contact that signal the controller to shutdown.
I suspect we’ll see “generative design” software suggest eliminating this switch, but we must resist!
