My love of deep nerdery in all forms surpassed my apathy for Star Wars. That was a delightful watch. I laughed out loud at the epoxy story.
Last fall DH and I visited the Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian annex, which is the storage expansion for the Air and Space Museum, out by Dulles Airport. If you can only visit one or the other, go for the annex, which has hundreds of flying machines on display and much less crass commercialism.
This is relevant because one of the areas you can view is the restoration hangar. The day we were there, they had in the works an old Wright era glider, a WWII bomber, and tucked away in a corner, an X-wing. cognitive whiplash
With no disrespect, and much love and admiration, I suspect everything Adam Savage does could be considered “nerding out.”
That was very cool and interesting.
The history of the piece is amazing.
Yeah, it’s basically a two-word resume for him.
You can just call it Star Wars. In hindsight, all the subsequent “Episode” shit was a mistake. Just the one movie is all that matters.
I agree, but you kinda have to say it just to clarify now since there’s so many Star Wars movies and if you said “the first” people might think you mean episode 1 (ew). (And I say that as a purist who only likes to watch the despecialized versions)
I got nervous that they were so close to touching it. The gloves do nothing!
I was feeling very Nigel Tufnel for that whole vid
Empire Strikes Back was pretty good
… even if subsequent installments copied the wrong things about it
