The Philosopher’s Union didn’t want the answer to life, the universe and everything to be known. It’d put them out of a job.
That’s it!
Douglas Adams is definitely one of our honorary prophets!
We can close the thread now. Nothing left to say here.
ETA: The reason I love this is that it reminds me of this apocryphal exchange:
One day Yanguan called to his assistant, “Bring me the rhinoceros fan.”
The assistant said, “It is broken.”
Yanguan said, “In that case, bring me the rhinoceros.”
Noo! Keep it going! This thread is made of gems!
And @teknocholer has been hitting them out of the park!
I blush.
Thanks for covering this! Just to note, what’s attributed to the Salt Lake Tribune is actually from the Washington Post
If you like what the Satanic Temple is doing, you can donate here!
Is it just me, or does it seem like the satanic temple are just doing this for the sake of being devil’s advocate?
I sense the Satanists are the underdogs in this fight. A “Good News Clubs” vs. “Bad News Bears” scenario, if you will.
And the clever little gems keep on coming! You’ve got some competition @teknocholer
If you read the article, the Satanic Temple in question has a humanist, scientific bent.
But an afterschool neoPagan club in public schools would also be great.
Completely, utterly relevant.
I’ve been waiting for someone to come along, bellow “Mu!!” then leave, then realized…
MU!!
The whole logic/zen portion of this thread has me thinking about http://meaningness.com/metablog/stem-fluidity-bridge and the idea that in order to get beyond the nihilism to the more fluid, light, but still functional mode of being beyond it, you first need to understand the systems you’re rejecting, both their strengths and their flaws.
Sweet. You should make DMT the analog to sacramental wine.
I approve of this message!
At the very least, we could have overseas ‘self-finding’ excursions, right?
That’s a better mission than ‘convert the heathens’
I went to a UU church. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard a few variations on this sermon.
