After Tay's very public crazy racist Nazi sexbot breakdown, Microsoft's like, 'Tay-a culpa, guys'

It needs to master Trump Twitter Haiku syntax.

Twitter was made for that guy.

No one is going to say anything of real worth in 140 characters, and it’s not a medium that lends itself to expressing how one comes to the conclusions one comes to… Which is generally the important part of any argument… When you get to the ‘why the fuck do you think this crazy shit’ part of the conversation.

Trump’s platform is the same as the guy that inspired this awesome character…

William Poole. During the height of the American party… Which was not long lived.

But it’s Trump.

And his great grandfather would have been there, in NY, benefitting from the political machine that ran the cities politics at the time.

And these guys were sort of a Yankee variant of the KKK.

So yeah… I’m not surprised they like him. The modern KKK and Trump’s platform share a common ancestor, afaik.

The only thing that separates this chatbot from a real white supremacist is that it never had any of its vile messages retweeted by Drumpf himself.

They’re not sorry; they’re embarrassed at how shitty their prototype product was, and they’re looking to deflect blame.

It’s not like anyone thought Microsoft was trying to create HitlerBot. But now people are legitimately wondering if Microsoft is capable of creating something that CAN’T be turned into HitlerBot, which requires them to pretend that this is the result of a coordinated attack by crack squads of evil l33t h@xx0rs instead of, you know, normal internet fucking-around.

If it is self-learning and has open user input, it is inherently capable of being turned into a Hitlerbot.

So what. One more or less, not much difference. So it says “bad things”. Big deal, I guess.

Until such bot gets capable of winning the elections, overturning the government, and actually killing people, it won’t deserve more than an amused chuckle.

Oh, I’m totally amused by and chuckling about it. In fact it got a rare literal LOL from me. Actually I doubt one person in a hundred would be genuinely offended.

I’m just saying, Microsoft is apologizing for HitlerBot’s Hitlerness (which they’re not responsible for) because it flopped as a Bot (which they are). The ELIZA program was less easily manipulated and less obviously fake.

As I mentioned in a related thread, this is because ELIZA has no persistence between sessions and cant really be trained. Still a crafted call and response ELIZA module can get people pouring their hearts out to it. Somewhere I still have logs…
