After Years of Fighting for Trans Kids, Lawyer Mia Yamamoto Came Out Herself

Born at the end of World War II in one of America’s concentration camps for its Japanese citizens, she fought in Vietnam, then became an activist lawyer for the poor and indigent. In the early 00’s after decades in the closet, she finally came out as a woman and has continued to defend poor clients in her old age. The world needs more heroes like this woman.
