It’s great for new families. If you get one with a really strong magnet, it makes for a simple and cheap replacement for a baby seat (note, though, that you should use a quick setting epoxy rather than hot glue or solder to mount the plate to the kid).

Does the plate affect the signal strength?

Just feed the kid loads of magnets and the metal plate will stay in place without glue, just remember not to get the poles mixed up when you stick him to the other magnet or shit covered flying magnets would go through the car windows.

for usability reasons I would suggest a diet based on electromagnets, an always magnetic kid can be awkward
