My take is that snow crab was in trouble since the early 80’s. That said the methodology seems to have changed at least twice. Too complicated for me to understand completely.
Just gotta point out that the closure is generally a regulatory response to practical science data. If ADFG is anything like Canada’s DFO, then lots of non-science stuff gets added into regulatory decisions.
