Was this created outside the US? It seems Hicks was unusually popular in other countries. Not that he wasn’t popular here per se, it’s just that I get the strong feeling that his routines resonated especially strongly with English cultures that weren’t … American, per se.
Not sure, but Hicks filled theatres in the UK, and came back to the US to half-empty rooms… I guess that’s down to his angle being so critical of American culture.
They had that up on Netflix here… we watched it a while ago. It’s a great introduction to him and his work.
