I’m sympathetic to this point of view. It’s been a while but my recollection is great premise but the execution didn’t elevate it.

Of course. I think it worth considering , though, that ACC1971 and Magoo Xmas had differing missions. The former’s dark adaption (made for adults) chose a visual style mimicking illustrations from earlier publications of the Dickens’ novella – a stylistic challenge that works beautifully, while the latter wisely chose to stay within the Magoo “universe” (as likely expected), that being light, simply-animated, and for the consumption of children, with the bonus being it was – in effect – a mini-musical.

I like both… ACC1971 for the style, Alastair Sims’ voicing of Scrooge, and the cleverly compact narrative… and Maggo for the sheer fun.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
