I often tell people: “We Canadians aren’t any ‘nicer’ than any other bunch of humans. We do value manners, and folks often confuse ‘polite’ for ‘nice’. But it’s easy to be mean and polite.”
Don’t let the manners or lack of sidearms fool you. People like the gentleman in the video have long been in Canada too.

The adolescent drama nerd in me would be dressing up as that guy every Pride if I lived there, doing a soft shoe choreographed homage to his inept rage. Plenty of fists on hips, flailing a huge wide brimmed cowboy hat, moving large props from one side of the street to another.
I wanna be mad, but I just find too much humor in his pain at a world that doesn’t accept condemning homos.
