Look away, Dixie. Look away.
You win my internet for today.
Having a functioning society that focuses on protecting the citizens instead of mob rule and a rampant Fuck you, I’ve got mine attitude would have prevented Dolt 45 from being elected and perhaps made some of these easily manipulated suckers stay home instead of doing the bidding of Koch, Putin et al.
If that’s socialism, so be it.
No, no… you’d think they get it right ONE time, but that’s the wrong kind of darwinism.
A link at the link is full of portents for them:
It really clarifies that objections to abortion and birth-control is really at its most basic an effort to control who gets to have sex, and if people who are not supposed to have sex do, make sure its as bad for them as possible.

Are there any odds that, with enough tragedies like this, these people will wise up to their idiot king and the radical right wing media running a con job on them?
Obvious fascists like the very good people depicted above aside, here’s two factoids on why I was discontent with the form of lockdown implemented where I live, how that changed, and why I do believe that a sufficient number of people is capable and willing to deal with this crisis in a responsible manner, without the state coming down on their liberties like a ton of bricks.
First, I live in Berlin, Germany. For a month now, we’ve had a kind of ‘semi-curfew’, were you could go out if it was for a reason out of an official list of ‘important reasons’, of which there were a lot, like work, grocery shopping, and even sports (alone, no teams). It was mandatory to carry an ID, and to explain to police, should they ask you, what you were doing out. Otherwise they could send you home, or fine you, or arrest you. And even if I understand the necessity of social distancing, and didn’t have a particular desire to go out, this really didn’t sit well with me. Why should I, when I’m out on my own and nowhere near another person, have to justify myself to the police? There were some legal doubts about this, too, regarding whether the constitution, and the epidemics law, allow such an order. Long story short, they lifted this particular rule this morning. And I feel wonderful. Am I going out now? Hell no. I’m not crazy, I don’t want to kill anyone, and I want this shitty 2nd rate plague to end ASAP. But it makes a huge difference to me, to know that I am no longer forbidden from leaving my home. That’s liberty - you don’t have to use it when it’s not smart to do so, but it’s a world of difference to have it. I think it’s pretty much the same for most other people, too. When I look out of the window, there isn’t more traffic then yesterday. Yes, there will be 1% (or less) of idiots who abuse this. But they can be dealt with individually by the police, and they aren’t worth to suspend the liberty of those 99% who can and will act responsibly.
Second, here’s another bit to support the idea that voluntary social distancing works just as well as the forced variant. This is R0, i.e., the average number of people infected by one bearer of Covid, over time, for Germany. It shows a massive drop after March 9, when public assemblies were banned, and people started social distancing of their own volition. However, after March 23, which is when the more strict measures like state-wide curfews came into effect, there’s little change at all. R0 is hovering at, or slighty below 1.0 and seems completely unfazed by the state ordering people to socially distance - because they had been doing it already anyway.
Heh, I think that those guys are pwning libruls with their stupid
mullets.
Part of pwning libruls seems to be looking stupid, or is it being stupid?
“Social Darwinism” was always more about Calvinism than biology, though…
Every time I see one of these protests (carefully cropped so you can’t tell the entire protester group was captured by a single image), I think of…
Because it’s literally true.
Some Republican group talked about how that traffic jam protest (the one blocking ambulances outside the hospital) was attended by “thousands” of people… when there were clearly only dozens of cars. (Which were only metaphorically clown cars, and not actually filled with 20 people each.)
War is Peace / Freedom is Slavery / Ignorance is Strength
Pro Life/Sacrifice the Weak
And the Koch Bro and friends behind that, in the Billionaire Bastards Club.
The hand of Darwin works in mysterious ways…
Actually I find that more offensive. Sacrifice the weak is horrible but honest. Trust god for safety is exactly the same thing but not taking any responsibility for the outcome, and even saying that the death of the victims is not an acceptable tradeoff, but is actually good. After all, god is by definition “good”. And it is in character as we were all reminded recently during the celebration of him bringing the plague of the death of the firstborns.
Anyone who thinks its ‘okay’ to sacrifice others’ lives needs to be the first in line.
It’s so blatant, it makes me wonder if it wasn’t a counter protester trying to make the point.
They kind of are, aren’t they? Natural selection does work, but not in the way they might expect.
