I give away a simpler version of the same kit to local kids - bought from AliExpress it’s all up ~US$5 - clone arduino, small proto board, leds, resistors, CDS photodetector, thermistor, 2 switches, battery clip, hookup wires - all fits in a sandwich bag

I deliberately don’t give the kids the USB cable because I want them to learn how to scrounge.
I’ve given away somewhere between 100 and 150 so far, at $5 each how can you NOT give them away.
I periodically teach a beginner’s class that starts with flashing the LED on the board, then adding one externally, adding more, switches, working up to a traffic light simulation, if we have time we’ll hook up a light sensor
