Arizona's shipping container border barrier is illegal and ineffective

The containers are filled with rabid republican hate, universally available and in infinite supply.

Yeah, if industries can use peoples’ labor, have a way for them to sponsor them ABOVE BOARD. No more of this under the table BS.

Anyone who has lived in this country illegally for 5 years or so, kept out of trouble, and obviously making money to afford to live here - that there is the embodiment of the American spirit. There should be a “common law” type residency.

There has to be balance in the system. Part of me would be OK with true open borders (no matter what the GOP says, we do not have that.) But the reality is, you have to put people somewhere and funnel them into society. It requires a level of logistics and planning that no one has showed any enthusiasm to do. But given our meddling has helped lead to peoples’ predicaments, we owe them.

But the current system is currently completely broken. Anyone wanting to do it the right way has to be both blessed with resources and lucky. Heck, Elon is an example of someone rich who wasn’t here legally at one point.

The only reason we have any measureable undocumented immigration is because we make it so freakin’ difficult for anyone who isn’t rich, White, and connected.

At least they are finally recognizing marriage equality for asylum and permanent residency visas. That’s a step in the right direction.

A person can literally buy a green card for $250K. For $500K they can include their whole immediate family.

Its called an investor visa.

Container homes are not unknown over here, but they’re done properly off-site, usually using refrigerated containers because they have all the necessary insulation, they’re properly fitted out with all wiring and plumbing, then trucked to the site and craned onto the established foundations which have utilities set up. Basically a good solid prefab home. What people like is that they can be expanded over time as money becomes available, in much the same way homes are built in Greece.

… maybe they’d be okay if somebody buried them in the side of a hill, so heat and cold wouldn’t be so much of an issue

Like the insulation example above, this scenario requires prohibitively costly efforts to make it workable. If your going to do that you may as well make a standard structure for less.

And if you don’t want to climb over, battery powered angle grinders are pretty cheap these days too.
