Very sad.
When I travelled Thailand in the early 2000s - this famous case ensured I watched my step around open canals.
If it’s not brain eating amoebas - it’s brain eating fungus and bacteria that can get you. Really puts some perspective to the millions who wander into the Ganges and whatnot.

Sadly, this is another climate change induced alteration we are going to have to adapt to. It is being seen further and further north, and in Summer, no place is actually safe. Still fairly rare, but not that rare, and getting less so. Add that to your bingo cards.
