BTW, he cause of this fire is karma for the Atlanta Braves leaving a perfectly good 20-year old baseball stadium for Cobb County, GA.

I don’t think concrete burns. After it has had time to set it contains a lot of carbonate. At a certain temperature the carbonate gives off carbon dioxide, which decomposes the concrete.
I cannot help thinking of one of the earlier sea-steading attempts to design a Floating Libertarian Nation in the form of a ferroconcrete ship:
In December 1971, the Atlantis 2 phase was underway for a few hours, sailing down the Hudson River. Then the tide went out and Atlantis 2 tipped over into the mud and caught on fire.
Atlanta: “Godamighty! Traffic can’t possibly get worse!”
Pile of PVC pipes: “Hang on, I got this. Hold my beer.”
Meanwhile, my daily commute is now 2 hours.
If I believed in such things, I’d be inclined to agree. however, as we know, the NW corner of the perimeter (between 400 and 75 is already THE WORST traffic in town, and between the start of the baseball season and the closures, the only people who are going to suffer are commuters. The people who made all the decisions are unlikely to be upset by the increase in traffic in the area.
Ugh. This suck, doesn’t it. I’m sorry.
And apparently, they’ve arrested 3 people for this now.
I would love to have a functional one of those on a highway somewhere.
/girl can dream
Brings new meaning to the term “functional”…I mean, it does have a function!
OMG! My cousin just texted that to me just yesterday!
This perfect. Just once quick step missed: Turn left on Vocaroo | Online voice recorder before Peachtree and you’re golden. (Yes, I’ve lived in Atlanta and yes, that’s my actual voice.)
Yes. Ponce da Lee-on. Pronounce it Ponce de Leon and nobody will have a clue what you’re talking about.
Also, DeKalb* County GA is pronounced nothing like DeKalb County IL.
*De Cab
That isn’t how those words are pronounced?
Not in DeKalb County Illinois it isn’t
They actually say “Ponce da Lee-on”?
That’s OK…we’ve got Cairo, IL, so I’ll hang my head in shame along with you!
I love the fact that we were posting at the same time, and came up with the same phonetic spelling for that Atlanta street pronunciation…native Midwesterners, represent!
That’s not the REAL Dekalb, though, that’s just somewhere else! ;-)
.we’ve got Cairo, IL,

Also works for me! I’m wondering if they plan to film there for American gods?
I have family in Atlanta, so I know how to pronounce Ponce de Leon and DeKalb. I wish I could say I came up with that on my own, but I didn’t.
