Release - Blackalicious
Blackalicious was my gateway group. I have come to enjoy both the hip and the hop. The middle of the song is my favorite. About 2 minutes in.

For some reason RATM got me thinking about this … señores y señoras, Jane’s Adicción, Three Days.
You know when you hear a song, and you think, ‘Everything should sound like this ***ALL THE TIME!!!***’? Yeah, that. Fuck, I love Orange Goblin.
I once saw phish and fIREHOSE at the same concert. Fishbone was headlining. The early 90s were weird.
That they were. Also, fucking awesome.
Paul Anka - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Poetry Man - Phoebe Snow
La vie en rose - Louis Armstrong
Special bonus version:
玫瑰人生 (La vie en rose)
Not actually the Piaf tune, but the theme song to a 1987 Taiwan TV series, set during the Japanese occupation. The tune’s catchy, but also, the visuals are a must watch, apparently cramming a full season’s worth of melodrama into three minutes. I’d be curious to see the show, but I suspect it’s all been spoiled now that I’ve seen this.
Boris - Feedbacker (performed live in NYC from Bootleg: Feedbacker DVD)
this is far better korean pop than what they were recently torturing the DMZ with:
And along the same lines with J-Pop, The Peanuts - Una Sera di Tokyo
RIP Rico Rodriguez.
Just heard on the Tuvan music station:
Yat Kha singing Love Will Tear Us Apart
And of course, that reminded me of versions by the Swans.
It’s probably been in here before, but we’ve all fallen off the initial request to make the thread easily searchable by listing the artist / song in text. So whatever you think of the song, can we start formatting again?:
Beatles: “Long Long Long”
Nice. That’s sampled in the first track of the Grey Album, “Public Service Announcement.” Artists Danger Mouse, Beatles, Jay-Z.
Penance for posting Y Kant Tori Read in the awful music thread. Tori Amos - Space Dog:
Love this album, although it always reminds me of the person who recited one of the lyrics (“Yes, Anastasia” I think) for a speech class I was in. Really, really didn’t work as spoken word.
Oh hey this thread which I thought about when some cool songs showed up in the shuffle play as I was commuting in the car the other day.
