“We done lost contact with the Black Swan almost three years ago, and the last we heard from her didn’t sound good. She’s been missing ever since. Couple of weeks ago, one of our stakeholders came across some information hinting at the what might be the current location of the Swan. Pulled together enough credit to put it on my dance card, so this is our first stop.”
“We’re going to salvage the more valuable cargo - you’ll make some juice and our stakeholders make a tidy profit. For now, you’ll just need to secure access to the Swan. Future runs will be able go deeper and get to those hard-to-reach places on board.”
“A lot of folk love to spread rumors about this sort of thing and you may have heard a few of them. Truth is we just don’t know what in blazes happened out here.”
##Round 2 Mission Options
Idle penalty: 10Ʉ
The farther we get from home, the more we dip into our remaining stocks. Don’t be a lollygagger. Lollygaggers run out of juice.
Mission 1 - Eel Be Along Shortly
Space eels use the hulks of derelict ships as nurseries for their young, which puts a bit of a damper on things from a salvage point of view. We’re going to have to clean out a few eel nests in the holds before we can get to the good stuff. Juvenile space eels aren’t too bad, it’s the adults you really have to watch out for.
Mission Cost: 5Ʉ
Minimum Requirements: at least 20 POW and 18 SEN
Risks: Eel bites! Up to 3 bites (2-10HP each depending on DEF), (SEN+POW)/2% chance to evade
Expected salvage: +30Ʉ incentive payment, GLO+2, 2x low-value salvage opportunities
Mission 2 - Pop and Lock
A few of the airlocks appear to be intact, which means there’s a good chance that the stowage wasn’t spaced. Airlock gear tends to be just the sort of thing a good scavenger needs, but watch your step: it looks like the crew was worried about being boarded?
Mission Cost: 5Ʉ
Minimum Requirements: 21 SEN or greater
Risks: Booby traps (5-40HP based on SEN, with a very small (SEN/5)% chance to avoid)
Expected salvage: 3x standard salvage opportunities per scavenger, low chance of items
Mission 3 - Bridge to Somewhere
The bridge bulkhead looks like it was busted wide open, but the interior seems relatively undamaged. No telling what sort stuff might be found: the ship’s log, spendy computers, and other valuable stuff. Unfortunately for you, the defense systems are still online so you’ll need to stay on your toes while figuring out what’s safe to grab.
Mission Cost: 5Ʉ
Minimum Requirements: 20 EVA or greater
Risks: Anti-personnel systems (3-30 damage based on EVA)
Expected salvage: 2x high-value salvage opportunities per scavenger, small chance of dangerous salvage
Mission 4 - Annual Inspection
The drives are still warm, which is odd. Anyone feel like investigating?
Mission Cost: none
Minimum Requirements: 20 SCI or greater
Risks: Radiation (3-25 based on DEF)
Expected Salvage: 50Ʉ incentive fee, 1x unusual salvage opportunity per scavenger
##Ship’s Stores:
“Now I know some of those suits are looking a little rough. I’m still feeding the matter you brought back into the fabricators and expect to have the repair shop back online real soon now. For the moment, you’ll have to make due with this crate of duct tape we dug up in the aft bulkhead. Now that we’re on station, we can at least start breaking into the gear that was allocated for this job.”
20Ʉ Impact_Gel ( DEF+4 )
20Ʉ Harpoon_Gun ( POW+4 )
20Ʉ SuitPal_9000 ( SCI+3 )
25Ʉ Booster_Jet ( EVA+4 )
20Ʉ LIDAR ( SEN+5 )
15Ʉ Duct_Tape ( HP+10 )
“Ol’ Kassie is undergoing final system checks and should be back online shortly to take your orders.”
