Unfortunately, I’m sure that 0% of any lawmakers in the US reading about this will use the story to reflect on the worthiness of such laws. Most likely they are instead rushing to make sure this kind of thing couldn’t happen in their jurisdiction.
Unless it’s the movie Labyrinth, in which case…

We don’t have such laws in the US which is why we can’t have nice mazes.
On a serious note an Indian restaurant owner I know couldn’t get a license to serve alcohol for months even while nearby restaurants around his got licenses within a few days. He was finally told to hire a white lawyer. He did and had a license in three days.
Here the problem is the unwritten laws.
Or the one that begins “A fly crowbars into …” but, umm, comes to a dead stop.
Nothing in the world is new.
