Based on one of my dad’s friend’s stories from Action Park, you are correct, things like this can have unpleasant consequences. I don’t think that case led to an emergency room visit, but it was close.

Never having been successful at standing up on water skis I know exactly how it feels when that water is being pushed up into places it should not go.
I guess hitting the shore and getting up counts as sticking the dismount.
