The constant speed across the water looks very suspicious to me. I am a really easy to fool, but even I think there is more to this video than it looks.
The East German’s are playing it down, but I’ll give that 10 across the board.

Pssshhh, I can do that.
There’s lots of footage of people doing this at the end of the season at various resorts (I know Squaw Valley does it at the base of the mountain in a big pond of snowmelt). This guy had a ton of speed going in. Powder skis are as fat as water skis these days, just prep with some high temp wax and go.
