I stayed there in either the late 60s or early 70s on one of our biannual road trips*. It was a glimpse into the era of gilded age resorts, still beautiful but the years had taken their toll. I was glad Omni decided upon restoration rather than razing it.
* three moms and five kids aimlessly driving around New England in a huge land yacht 60s Lincoln Continental
