1). Read a lot
2). Have something worth writing about
3) write a lot
4). Submit
5) try again
You learn from reading, not just ideas, but you pick up through osmosis what is good grammar and writing. I can’t recite grammar rules, not even when I was in high school, but generally I am good at it.
But having something worth saying is vital. Otherwise no matter how perfect your grammar and composition, the result won’t matter.
Specific markets can come from reading in that specific genre.
