Yes, there are GIFs. I give the warning only for those who are motion-sensitive, not those who refuse to accept that communication can take many forms.

What about the guy killed by racists while jogging two months ago? Thatā€™s definitely been pushed down. I hope national news can pull it back out of the shadows. Itā€™s Americaā€™s evil racist undercurrent rising to the surface like a giant, ugly pimpleā€¦ againā€¦ All of us need justice for Ahmaud Arbery or NONE of us is safe from the Nazis. We canā€™t let America sink into a shithole like this.

I just heard the two racist assholes who killed him, a father and son duo, were indicted. Well itā€™s about friggin time, two months later. I expect more shenanigans like acquittal, but fuck, at least they were hauled in. FUCK! What a fucking country. I canā€™t believe this fucking place half the time.

This isnā€™t really out of the news cycle so much, but just because, way back on Wednesday (in the pleistocene) there seemed to be a lot of concern about John Ratcliffeā€™s potential appointment being the politicization of the US intelligence agencies, this is a disturbing late Friday release:

A staffer who worked under Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) on the House Intelligence Committee also recently joined ODNI to serve as a deputy to the COO.

Nick Ciarlante, who interned in Nunesā€™ congressional office before joining the intelligence committee and working on the ODNI portfolio there, started the new job this week, two people with knowledge of the move said.

Now thereā€™s nothing stopping the PATRIOT Act allowing the FBI to slurp web-browsing histories without a warrant

An amendment that would require the FBI get a warrant before they access Americansā€™ web-browsing history failed to pass by a single vote in the US Senate on Wednesday.

You may be distracted by the pandemic but FYI: US Senate panel OKā€™s backdoors-by-the-backdoor EARN IT Act

An amended version of Americaā€™s controversial proposed EARN IT Act has been unanimously approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee ā€“ a key step in its journey to becoming law. This follows a series of changes and compromises that appear to address criticsā€™ greatest concerns while introducing fresh problems.

Social media businesses are making moves to block Hong Kong authorities from accessing their user data, days after Beijing imposed a new national security law on the territory.

Facebook, Google, and Twitter said late last night they will temporarily block Hong Kongā€™s law-enforcement agencies from accessing user data after the local government granted sweeping new powers to police under the law to ā€œprevent, suppress and impose punishment for offences endangering national security.ā€

The police will be able to search people without warrants and take down internet posts. Those who do not comply could be fined as much as $13,000 and face a two-year prison sentence.
