This story moved me to tears. I saw these folks interviewed on Friday. So very sad that this beautiful creature has been kept - solitary - in a tiny enclosure for 50 years

Running a country of ~61 million people as a tax haven & laundrette for the questionable rich, without a competitive industrial and/or agricultural sector, doesn’t look sustainable to me.

You have to wonder how much of “Great” Britain was ever really sustainable without an Empire to loot… and I can’t say that we “colonials” are keen for that to return any time soon. I’d say WW1 pretty much exhausted any warm feelings about the “mother country”.
