Career politicians–well, the good ones anyway–, used to be called “tribunes.”
Seriously. Where is the long form birth certi…I mean tax return?!?
The one thing that could really turn this around would be having D.T. as the GOP candidate; That man is scary enough to get a lot of undecided non-voters up off their asses and out to the polls. Nobody really want to see Trump anywhere NEAR the white house!
Bah.
I hear he closes the door to the bathroom, too.
I heard he has an ex-wife in some place called Mayors Income, Tennessee. And he used to have a consulting business in Indonesia. I heard he has no friends, but he gets a lot of mail.
I heard he is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Sanders. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist. And like that, poof. He’s gone.
(Extra likes for working in a Tom Waits reference.)
Two separate issues. I can’t do anything about the first, and this should address the second.
(pretty sure who he voted for)
Are you disappointed in Bernie Sanders?
Bernie Sanders gives straight answers just as he always has. Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, continues to employ republican obfuscation techniques. I’m not falling for it, nor is Bernie and nor are his core supporters who look critically at the big picture.
When Hillary Clinton was repeatedly asked if Bernie was qualified to be President, she responded by repeatedly listing all the reasons he wasn’t qualified. The answer was clear, she doesn’t think Bernie is qualified. Bernie responded in kind and listed all the reasons he doesn’t think she is qualified.
He didn’t dance around the fact that she didn’t directly call him unqualified, Bernie will leave all those dance moves for Hillary who wouldn’t give an honest, direct answer and instead employed a deceitful, indirect answer.
This is same, old Hillary Clinton we’ve often seen.
When Hillary Clinton has been repeatedly asked if she will break up the banks, she dodges a straight answer and attempts to obfuscate the issue. She slyly employs a qualifier that if the banks need to be broken up, she will do so. This is a deceitful way of saying that she doesn’t think the banks have exhibited enough malfeasance to break them up. The answer is clear, she will not break up the banks.
When Bernie Sanders is asked if he will break up the banks, he gives a straight answer. He says that the banks need to be broken up right now and he will attempt the process when he is elected.
When Hillary Clinton is repeatedly asked if she will release her Wall Street speech transcripts, she dishonestly bobs and weaves and heavily implies that Bernie Sanders also needs to release his own transcripts and is in bed with the same people she is. That’s a lie.
Just how dumb does she think we are?
Bernie never stopped. Campaign finance is an issue. Hillary Clinton’s Wall Street speaking fees, superPACs, and collusion with the media and other campaign finance tactics are an issue.
Indeed, Hillary’s perpetual dishonesty and lack of integrity are an issue as well.
Based on your comment history, it seems like you’ve already decided to support Hillary. That would make your pursuit of the issue seem disingenuous. As has already been asked of you and ignored by you - Would you at all be inclined to change your mind about who to vote for based on what information is revealed in his taxes?
I’ve already voted in the primary, and will vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is. If that’s Sanders, then so be it. And having his undisclosed taxes remain as a tool that the GOP can use against his, is a stupid, stupid move. He should just disclose them, and be done with it, rather than allowing it to hang over his head.
If there’s an upside to his continuing to stall on this matter, I’d like to hear it.
Point to an article all you want. Did you even look at his return, line by line? I did.
–The c form mentioned by Daily Kos would show $4,900 in other income (could be a wife’s extra income, could be royalties). Hardly earth-shattering.
–Pension is $4,982.
–Taxable social security $39,281(wife’s since he’s not retired).
–$346 in self-employment tax (see above).
–$7,900 standard deduction for two people.
–$56,377 itemized deduction, some of which might include mortgage, travel, health and/or work expenses. Many of these deductions will not be individually itemized on his tax return.
Daily Kos is showing faux outrage over $56,377.
So, again, why are you so upset at a family of two who overpays (yes, he got a refund) their taxes on a grand total of $205,000?
What evidence do you have that he’s stalling?
He said his wife does his taxes and she’s busy campaigning with him on the road. It’s been less than 4 days total since he said she’d collect them and release them.
You consider 4 days stalling?
Those Wall Street speech transcripts from Hillary. Where are those transcripts after all this time? Please answer that direct question without stalling.
Did you miss it when I wrote this?
I also wonder if specific donations would be listed – perhaps he’s contributed to orgs that Mrs Clinton could dub terrorist, commie, etc.
Also, as @roddleberries just pointed out, why is a mere four days, when he’s already explained that his self-filed tax records are basically buried at home in some file cabinet that he hasn’t gotten back home to yet, “stalling”?
Hi. Just wanted to take this time to welcome you to the BBS in case no one else has. We’re a diverse bunch of Happy Mutants, and we’re always happy to see someone add to the conversation. Please be sure to read the community guidelines. To be clear, I think you’ve been civil if emphatic. (Actually, I straight up agree with what you’ve said.) Since this is politics, I just want to make sure the conversation stays productive.
Other than that, grab a beverage of your choosing and have fun.
Oregon.
The state with the only out-of-the-closet governor automatically registers everyone with a driver’s license or a non-driver’s state ID card.
The state with no problem with polling places because it pioneered vote-by-mail; no polling places, everyone votes by mail.
Adopt this in your state for free and fair elections.
Sounds great. But you see, there’s all these Republicans running things in so many states, and they’re all worried about some nearly non-existent thing called “voter fraud,” so.
At least, I think (not) that’s what they’re worried about.
