It could be that once you become president and learn the “shocking truth about aliens” it’s so mind-blowing that you have no choice but to renege on the promise.
I don’t know which is more disturbing: that Bernie would only tell us the truth about aliens (or anything else for that matter) if his wife made him; or that his wife could make “demands” in matters of government policy, and he would then cave to them.
It’s a risky strategy, he’ll have to make it up with the wingnut vote.
something something Fear Factor presidential debate
So, true story… When I took the first class you’re supposed to take for history majors, we went to the Carter Center to do some research. After talking to the archivist and trying to figure out what to look into, I settled on UFOs. There is actually a fair amount of info there, at least a few boxes. One of the key UFO folks in the US (I’m blanking on his name) sent tons of letters to President Carter, specifically because of that quote. His (Carter’s) UFO encounter was transcribed in the record at some point. I argued that because Carter during his presidency did not take a hands on interest in the issue (he basically handed it off to someone else) that he did not think it was a priority, and that means that there really isn’t that much that the government is actually covering up about UFOs.
I don’t doubt that our government is keeping things from us, whether it’s aliens or not.
But I agree with Carter; the existence of aliens is pretty low on my list of priorities. There are too many other, more important issues to focus on right now.
