Best television one-time-event 1978: The Star Wars Holiday Special

It’s a weird relic of another time – the idea of a one-off TV special that’s not meant to be taken very seriously and is nearly always a collection of far-past-their-prime stars to get drunk and act silly for a few laughs. Personalities like Paul Lynde made a whole second career out of hosting TV specials and hamming it up with their friends, then pretending to enjoy a current rock band. (Check out the legendary Paul Lynde Halloween Special, with Margaret Hamilton, Witchiepoo, Tim Conway, Florence Henderson, and of course, KISS.)

“best”?!? it was the only acceptable part, as far as my maximum generosity goes.

as nobody postet it:

for everyone who didnt saw the special so far and “want” to see it; do yourself a favour and watch the gang talking about instead. really, its better to laugh than die.

Isn’t this the program that established the Chewbacca’s closest male relatives are named “Itchy” and “Lumpy”?

I guess Scabby and Pustule couldn’t make it over for the holidays.

They must be nicknames. “Chewy” isn’t all that much better than “Lumpy.”
