I for one look forward to President Biden in a muscle shirt, wearing sunglasses and eating an ice cream cone getting a vaccine jab in the arm.

be his “chief medical adviser.”

Isn’t that kinda what the Surgeon General is supposed to be?

Maybe they can do it while he’s in the drivers seat of his Camaro.

I think the bigger issue is the wonderful cable news industry will run a god damn countdown in the chyron the whole time and run constant human interest stories on how much people can’t wait to de-mask.

Which will just key up the stupid.

Especially if we still need masks after we hit that arbitrary mark.

When he gets a break it’ll be the most earned vacation on the planet.

Done done by Easter though, right? We were promised.

Saw Dr. Fauci on the Today show this morning. He responded to the interviewer’s question about Biden’s offer, “I said yes on the spot.”

All he’s really got is the bully pulpit. At least he seems likely to use it for better rather than worse, as evidenced by our current resident bully. Problem is, of course, that Trumpists will ignore anything he says and use it as “proof” of his “radical liberal socialist agenda.” From their PoV, anything good, true and right is absolute proof of same.

Sadly, I think that is likely to happen. 3k/day, won’t take long. And the right will blame it on Biden, of course.

He’s likely focusing on covid, and Surgeon General is going to help with that, but will focus on “the rest of it”, ie every other US (and world) health problem. It’s not like there’s not enough work for two people, and Biden will likely choose someone who will cooperate with Fauci.

Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country. So it’s voluntary. You don’t have to do it. They suggested for a period of time, but this is voluntary. I don’t think I’m going to be doing it.

And if Biden does miraculously pull us out of a nosedive in 100 days (by paying people to stay home), then all the credit will go to Trump.:weary:

Actually I do wonder if we can put the genie back in the bottle. President Cheeto rammed it into the MAGA bozos’ brains that COVID-19 was just a Democrat hoax/the flu/non-existent/etc. very effectively. Democrats in office are now limited in how much they are reverse the idea among the cult followers.

How much better it would have been had some other republican been president who took the pandemic seriously and encouraged everyone to take it seriously. Maybe right wing people might have done so. And left wing people would probably do it just because of the science behind it, like they are doing now.

In fact I wonder if Clinton could have done as good a job at as a republican who played it straight. Right wingers probably would have said “well if she says it, I won’t do it.”
