That’s why I assume anyone talking about a “new Red scare” or “McCarthyism” in this context is speaking from either ignorance or bad faith or both.

I naively thought that the parties would provide campaigns with guidelines on how to deal with all these complicated grey areas but, cynically thinking, they may prefer to keep it grey.
I have looked into the legalities, but was soon up to my ankles in case law.
