Worth a read, especially by those of us who have the privilege of looking at it from the outside, or who are in the medical professions and need to be aware of this history when talking to our patients. I am sure this will not be news to any persons of color in the community, but for the rest of us it is always worth a reminder of just how systematically shitty our institutions have been to minorities in the past as well as currently. It really is baked into the pie and must be acknowledged first of all if it is to be addressed and rooted out.

Seriously, is there not a curriculum out there that has a way to teach this without humiliating black kids? I understand the necessity of teaching it. My schooling never mentioned slavery or civil rights, and that was wrong, but this is not better.
