Even when they are handed a gift of non-prosecution (with a $ cost) … they fark it up.
My guess is who ever botched the deal is enough layers insulated that they won’t be the ones to serve time should it go that direction.
The visible public failures are impossible without systematic frauds and corner cutting. Who knows how severe the problem behind the scene. This is basically “organized-crime” as the cops usually call non-suited defendants. The whole thing reeks of bean counter, intimidation, pushing out and silent opposition and whistle blowers in literal sense just to chase that sweet next quarter record profit. The whole C-suite was supposed to be behind bar for the multiple 737 Max crashes, not starting to be investigated now.
