I am just baffled that anyone could say this with a straight face!

Fucking hell, that framing is infuriating. Republicans control the House and made their own mess, all while constantly demonizing Dems. Why the hell should Dems help them out of it! And why is this mess being framed as the fault of Dems!!!

That the Democrats should behave like moderate Republicans is a prime goal for far right Republicans.
Though - even if they did this disastrous thing- there is no moderate Republican running for speaker. And certainly none that would get the majority of the Republican vote; as the Hastert Rule requires.
Asking us to conform to a rule put into effect by a convicted sexual predator seems like too much in any case.
