Well the Tories do call themselves “The Nasty Party” with only a hint of irony. Also let’s not forget that the vote for Brexit (and the reason why it was such a constitutionally incompetent mess) only took place over a row in the Tory party. It had nothing to do with actual policy ideas.
This seems to be a poo flinging contest between Cummings and Johnson. Cummings was accused with leaking government secrets – aka the “Chatty Rat.” So he came back with this tasty nugget of gossip. It’s probably salacious enough to successfully distract us from David Cameron and Greensill, which is what kicked off this round of Tory infighting.
