Fun fact. Back when they were starving stage actors, Caine and Connery shared an apartment!

I have a certain fondness for the theory that The Equalizer is actually a sequel to Callan. Callan, Robert McCall – obvious, innit?

Slightly off topic, but when is somebody going to deepfake Face/Off and do the obvious?

This one just looked like Connery with a moustache and strange eyebrows.

It could have worked, but it would have changed the tone of the film somewhat.

Agreed. But I’d have liked to see it nevertheless.

Great clip!

From soprano to tenor?

Recently repeated on UK TV somewhere way down the channel guide. I watched some of the very early ones - very dark indeed. Shame so many are missing. But I think there’s a few later episodes on my TiVo that I may get round to seeing one day. The Callan/Lonely dynamic was always touching.

Ref Connery having class vs. Reynolds being a working class rogue

If you ever get a chance to see this, it does feature Connery in a very working class role (but only a bit part), IIRC playing one of the lorry drivers (just like his Dad)
