Maybe I should watch this then! I intentionally avoided it because the title and premise seemed aggressively insulting to one’s intelligence.

It’s not high concept… but I personally found it fun to watch and interesting to see how cakes that aren’t obviously cakes are made… The people on the show making cakes seemed genuinely talented.
While they were making them? The contestants were the people making the cakes, after all…
You know, it was the middle of a fucking pandemic and an on-going coup, so… There were MUCH worse things happening when it aired. I don’t know why light-hearted fun that doesn’t actively hurt others is bad?
