There’s no sane reason to: jail our kids, overcrowd our prisons, prevent people in pain from having relief, induce the other-wise law-abiding to associate with (and be influenced by) drug dealers and criminals, throw people out of school, fire people from their jobs, implement no health regulations for something millions of people use, waste money and manpower in enforcement, engage in unfair seizures of property, squander a potential source of tax revenue, foster organized and gang crime, etc. etc. etc.
I’m not a “legalize everything” advocate, but, jesus, I don’t know how anyone can argue to keep such a comparatively harmless drug as marijuana illegal in light of the myriad health and societal problems caused by alcohol, and the above litany of ill effects caused by pot’s illegality.
Batman bat?
It’s not the bat I want, it is the bat I deserve.
This leads to being still awake on Tuesday, and people yelling about how you’re still in their living room, and how it’s not their birthday anymore. Apparently.
Allegedly, until you are found guilting in a court of law, you need to use “allegedly”.
Oh, it was made apparent. We offered to share the stuff we’d found stashed under ther rug and everything, but nooooo.
That’s because all that was stashed under the rug was poorly cropped dick pics, crushed up chalk candy hearts left over from Valentine’s Day, and what appeared to be a years worth of belly button lint. No one wants that shit!
Allegedly.
It was ketamine. Unfortunately.
Just thought I’d point out that, due to the speed difference, planes are indeed safer PER MILE traveled, while on a PER HOUR basis, the chance of death is in fact about the same
Binge drinking = a thing.
Binge weed smoking = not a thing.
Your anecdotes suck.
because other people endanger lives (necessarily or otherwise)
The necessities are fine by me, but there are a LOT of old people driving large cars who should not have a licence and who take entirely unnecessary trips.
it’s okay for you to endanger lives further
No, it’s OK to endanger others at or below a level which is already acceptable in the eyes of society and the law. You know, the ol’ objective assessment of risk?
for shits and giggles.
No, for getting to work and to get food for [my]self - which is, according to you, the reality of our society.
All right, everyone knows where everyone stands.
Yes, you stand for double standards and I do not. I am also completely happy with making choices for myself, whereas you’d prefer to allow others to make decisions about your freedoms based on nothing but their own/society’s ignorance.
I think we’re done here.
I’d really like to hope so, but I doubt so. Your moralistic guilt trips will never work and I will continue to drive after smoking and continue to make the case that it’s no more dangerous than other things society accepts. Deal with it.
Toxicity is a problem for many meds, were you aware that the active ingredient in Tylenol, acetaminophen is a hepatotoxic, it poisons the liver?
Surprisingly while alcohol may cause a large % of chronic liver failure acetaminophen is the winner for acute liver failure.
Yes, meth is toxic and so is hard liquor, but it is certainly not cancer chemotherapy level toxic, dose, frequency, overall use duration, and the recipient’s body all determine how much damage is done and how long recovery is from hours to years.
Protip: the hipster shops are often lying to you. Do you really think they are testing the stuff?
Even if they’re right, do you honestly think anyone would eat more than a kilo of kronic shit?
We seem to be talking at cross purposes here. Let me outline your comment as I read it:
“Amphetamines as a class of drug, including meth, are all of similar toxicity with similar potential for harm, and if taken at a known level of purity are fairly safe when compared to other recreational drugs.”
Is this what you are arguing? Because that is how I read your comment, that’s what I’m responding to, and your continual questioning of my awareness is kind of patronising and unnecessary, to be frank.
I muddied the waters with my addreall comment on the good of Rx/USP grade meds, I believe that research has shown that there is a scale and meth is down on the more bad side with MDMA.
I do not believe meth to be dangerous alone as the complete tweaker lifestyle which includes meth, there are plenty of un-messed up MDMA users because the weekend user rave or sex lifestyle is different even though the drug is per the graph and looking at the chem more toxic. I am actually surprised that cocaine is more dangerous than meth and MDMA but that tobacco or ethanol are way worse was expected.
I also think that it is reasonable to assume that the gnarly brown coffee creamer stuff meth users carry around is way worse than something pure with known dose bought at a pharmacy.
Sorry for coming off patronizing, this “drugs are bad, m-kay” thing has lead to so much propaganda and FUD it becomes like trying to discuss reasonably with a literal reading creationist so my quills pop out a bit.
That’s totally cool. I think my point was a lot more limited in scope than you might have taken it for!
People who actually want to use weed for medicinal purposes. Low THC but high CBD has been tested to be very beneficial for people with a different range of aliments without being affected by the psychoactive components of THC.
Yes and yes.
